Titanic Lectures For schools and other educational establishments, church groups, meeting rooms etc. tailored to suit your needs.

These very popular lectures can be tailored for all age groups and are delivered to your school, church group or meeting rooms etc. If your group has an interest in the White Star Line/Titanic, History, Genealogy, etc. or simply wish to be entertained for an hour or more then these lectures are for you. The lectures can often be tailored to complement your groups specific interest.

Unique:

My family is understood to be the closest living family connection to the Ismays of White Star fame, so your lecture is presented by a member of the same family which controlled the destinies of the White Star Line and of course, the building of Titanic.

Schools:

Many lectures have been held at schools throughout West Cumbria and have been enjoyed by all. As from January 2006 this service will be available Nationwide. The talks have been found to have a good educational value and have been popular with children from year 2 upwards.

The presentation starts with a short history of the Ismay family, showing how a family tree is constructed, then onto the childhood days of Thomas Henry Ismay (owner of the White Star Line) and looks at his schooling through to his adult years, and also features a very rare letter which was sent to Thomas when he was 12 years old (each child is given a copy of this letter) The lecture then talks about one of Thomas's sons,  Bruce Ismay, who later succeeded his father as Chairman of the White Star Line and was onboard the Titanic on her maiden voyage. The lecture then moves onto the creation of the White Star Line and the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company  and finishes with the story of the maiden voyage of the Titanic, which includes sound clips.

The lectures conclude with some Facts and Figures about the Titanic and move onto a question and answers period. Such is the interest demonstrated by the children that this usually ends with many children wanting to ask more, therefore a free online service is now available for the children's questions to be answered personally at a later date. *

Groups:

These lectures are usually held at your groups normal meeting venue. Some past venues include Theatres, Hotels, Museums, Civic halls, Parish rooms, Churches, and Social clubs and have been requested by groups such as Historical groups, Friends of museums,  Ladies and Gentleman's social events, over 50's groups, etc. etc.

In many cases, the lecture can be tailored to suit your groups specific interest.
